mauro mori
Born in Cremona, Italy, in 1965, Mauro Mori has travelled widely since he was teenager and expresses his perceptions of his trips through his innate manual creativity.
His meetings with various people and cultures, different languages and the sightseeing of unusual places provide the ideas on which his research is based. They are expressed in his functional and figurative personalized forms of his collection.
Actually Mauro's works have unique shapes because they are hand-made, sculpted and carved from solid blocks of natural matter, which are often hand-picked and worked in their places of origin, like the Albizia Rosa of Seychelles or the marble of Carrara.
The plasticity of the materials, the relief work from them and his high craftsmanship constitute the common denominator, which runs through his entire work. The research for innovative solutions from wood leads him to marbles and stones, which are extracted from solid matter and reveal the desired form through a process of subtraction .
For his constant research and development Mauro uses also metals, which are worked in plate form or are cast and then completed with oxidations and patinas.
From 1995 until 2004 he had designed and produced a collection which has distributed by Mondo Cappellini.
In 1998 he inaugurated his own atelier in Milan (Italy), where he experiments and shows his work.
Mauro has been published by the most famous fashion and design magazines and in the following books:
