Born in San Cesario di Lecce, Italy, in 1963, Renzo Buttazzo creates his first laboratory of craftsmanship of 'pietra leccese' (typical stone of Lecce's region) in 1986.
The stone, arid and desolate, delicate and smooth, trampled upon since the days of his childhood in the allies of the city, has become his 'infinite love'.
Renzo's professional life is a long journey of careful study of material, natural form and experimentation dedicated to the soul of the stone and his primitive pulse.
He refuses a purely academic, archaic and conservative culture, but acts in the name of expressive freedom, pure and uncontaminated.
Immersed in the silence of nature, Renzo finds his way of being within the natural form of the stone, which is essential, smooth, and in perfect balance with itself.
His art is intense, free of predetermined dogmas and full of simple naturalness. Circular lines, winding waves and organic forms are the elements that recur within his sculptures.
Renzo's works are in great demand by collectors all around the world. He lives and works in Campi Salentina (Italy).
